Ukraine International Airlines Updates Its Winter Schedule

Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) has updated its flight schedules for the northern 2020/21 winter. The airline will operate flights to multiple destinations within Ukraine and send its planes to 23 international cities, operating as far afield as Dubai and Egypt. The new services will run in addition to current flights.

Currently, UIA is running domestic flights between Kyiv and Lviv, and Odesa and
Kharkiv. These services will continue to run. In addition, daily flights between Kyiv and Kharkiv will start on October 25. Daily flights will also resume between Kyiv and Odesa. There are no updates to existing flights operating to and from Chernivtsi, Dnipro, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kherson, Vinnytsia, and Zaporizhia.

Ukraine International Airlines steps up its international services

Things are busier on the international front, with UIA increasing or resuming flights to a range of cities around Europe and into the Middle East.

Flights between Kyiv and Amsterdam will run five days a week, stepping up to daily from December 12. Flights to London Gatwick will increase to thrice-weekly from October 25. Services to London Heathrow will resume from December 17, operating three times a week. Flights to Paris will run five times a week from October 25.

Also, from Kyiv, there will be twice-weekly flights to Brussels, Prague, Munich, and Dusseldorf, running from October 26. Twice-weekly services to Geneva will resume on December 4. Milan will see three flights a week from Kyiv from October 26, increasing to four flights a week from December 5.

Tbilisi in Georgia will get four flights a week from Kyiv from November 1. Both Yerevan and Baku will see two UIA flights a week. Flights to Yerevan will resume on November 2, and the Baku flights will resume on November 4.

Barcelona will get a weekly UIA flight from December 12.

UIA Flights further afield

Further afield, there will be twice-weekly flights between Kyiv and Cairo from October 26. Flights to Dubai and Istanbul will go daily from October 26. Flights to Tel Aviv will be daily from December 4.

While the Bulk of UIA’s international services will run through Kyiv, there will be regular services to Tel Aviv from Dnipro, Odesa, Lviv, and Kharkiv.

Odesa will see two flights a week down to Tel Aviv from October 25. Dnipro, Lviv, and Kharkiv will all handle one service a week to Tel Aviv from the same date.

Meanwhile, the proposed services between Kyiv and New York have been pushed back until the end of the 2020/21 winter. That’s due to a variety of factors, including the significant deterioration of the political situation in Ukraine and the broader downturn in travel demand this year.

“The combination of these factors, leading to a decrease in both direct traffic from Ukraine to New York and transit traffic to the United States, became the reason for revising the feasibility of restoring a direct Kyiv-New York flight in 2020,” a Ukrainian news website reported an airline spokesperson saying earlier this month.
