United Airlines' in-flight dessert menu just leveled up and became a lot more exciting. The carrier has recently been upping its food program and this week announced it would be offering complimentary Milk Bar desserts in United Economy and United Premium Plus on select flights.

Milk Bar is now onboard

These delicious desserts will be available on all long-haul international flights (apart from those going to India) that depart from the United States, and anyone who is eager will be able to indulge in a Milk Bar Birthday Truffle Crumb Cake for dessert onboard.

United is the only US airline currently serving Milk Bar onboard and serves approximately 650,000 customers in the aforementioned seats per month. The Birthday Truffle Crumb Cake is one of Milk Bar’s top-selling desserts and will be served in a single-serve package for customer convenience.

For many years, United has offered ice cream (sometimes gelato) as the dessert in economy class on long-haul flights. For the longest time, we’ve seen all sorts of ice cream in economy class served in individual-size cups. Lemon Sorbet has been a longtime favorite.

For those who have flown United before, they may know what to expect. However, onboard United Economy and United Premium Plus, the menu for international flights is:

United Economy & United Premium Plus:

  • Complimentary house beer and wines, soft drinks, juices, tea, and freshly brewed illy coffee
  • Complimentary meal service, featuring a three-course meal with salad, artisan bread, the main course, and a premium dessert
  • A complimentary mid-flight snack, which includes a sandwich and candy, on flights longer than 12 hours
  • Spirits and liqueurs are available for purchase (economy), or complimentary in Premium Plus

Starting October 1st

Starting on October 1, United will begin offering this delicious dessert in both economy and premium economy, on most long-haul flights. These delicious packaged treats will be placed on trays and avoid the provision of dry ice in the main cabin on most long-haul flights, including all outbound flights from the USA, except to India, and most inbound flights.

Flights from Europe, South Africa, and Ghana to the US will still offer ice cream during the main meal service. Furthermore, flights to and from India will still offer ice cream.

That's not all

Also starting in October, United is expanding its Impossible Foods onboard menu, now offering two new Impossible Foods breakfast sandwiches for purchase on select flights, as well as switching up the White Claw flavor from Black Cherry to Blackberry.
