Airline safety videos come in many different forms. Some prefer the traditional, flight attendant focused films while others choose a more thematic or unusual approach. United Airlines has a few different safety videos out there. Now, they’ve introduced a new one featuring Spider-Man. And this one is sure to grab your attention.
The new film
The film is part of Sony Pictures’ promotional advertising for the film Spider-Man: Far From Home. As part of United’s partnership with Sony Pictures, United will be offering Polaris amenity kits that are Spider-Man themed. In addition, United has indicated that MileagePlus members will receive exclusive access to the film.
United included something a little extra in this safety video. Lucky MileagePlus members who bid miles were able to appear in the video alongside United crew and cast members from the film.
United passengers flying in Polaris will receive a Spider-Man themed amenity kit. All the essentials will be present. However, passengers should expect to see the eye mask, socks, tissues, earplugs, toothbrush, and pen to be “Spidey-branded.”
If you’re a MileagePlus member, you can now bid your miles for a “one-of-a-kind experience to attend the Spider-Man: Far From Home premiere in Los Angeles on June 26th.” As per United’s press release, the lucky winner will receive two tickets to attend the premiere, red carpet event, and afterparty. It is highly likely plenty of stars will be available to interact with.
If you want to use fewer miles, United is offering bids for early access to see the film from their major hubs. Bidding for tickets to the world premiere will close on June 14, 2019. Meanwhile, early access promotions will end on June 24, 2019.
Star Alliance safety videos
Star Alliance perhaps has the most unique safety videos. Air New Zealand has always been known for their quirky safety videos. Before it was “The Most Epic Safety Video Ever Made”…
From there, Air New Zealand went to a new safety video that was a rap song. Personally, after watching this video, I wouldn’t say I’m entirely sure what I’m supposed to do in case of an emergency.
As far as films go, Turkish Airlines was influenced by The Lego Movie as they created their own safety videos.
Then, there is Singapore Airlines‘ safety film. Singapore Airlines chose to go with a safety film highlighting unique sights and experiences in Singapore.
Safety videos can get boring– especially for frequent fliers and young travelers. United’s latest effort is designed to not only highlight their promotional partnership with Sony Pictures, but also to grab the attention of the audience.
Hopefully, no United passengers will ever find themselves in an emergency situation. But, if they do, here’s hoping that they learned much about safety from Spider-Man.
