The United States has the biggest market for regional airlines, and the commercial significance of these carriers continues to grow. Millions of Americans use these regional flights on a regular basis, so the hand baggage limits set on passengers is really important. With this in mind, we're going to break down the hand baggage allowances for all US regional airlines.

Delta Connection

Bags must not exceed 22 inches x 14 inches x 9 inches, but Delta Connection imposes no weight restriction on the majority of routes.

The maximum dimensions of hand baggage on this airline are 22 inches x 14 inches x 9 inches, while a maximum weight of 25 pounds is also imposed.

United Express

Finally, United Express also imposes a size limit of 22 inches x 14 inches x 9 inches on hand baggage, while bags must weight no more than 50 pounds.

Summary

In summary, you will have a very hard time getting hand baggage larger than 25 inches on a US regional airline. The upper limit is around 24 inches, with numerous airlines offering baggage provisions in the ballpark. However, Horizon Air seems to offer slightly larger hand baggage than any other regional airline.

Honorable mentions should also go to United Express, Ohana, American Eagle, Delta Connection, SkyWest and Compass. United Express also allows particularly heavy bags to be taken on board, so that is an extra tick in its box.
